PRE-SCHOOL LESSONS

Teaching our youngest pupils to have fun in the water. It is also a steep learning curve for Mums & Dads as well!

Our lessons are all based on fun, familiar and not so familiar nursery rhymes, games and play. We also help parents gain confidence when handling small children in the water and knowing how to move onto the next stage.

Our toddlers are then ready to take the next step which is the Amateur Swimming Association's (ASA) Water Activity Foundation stage. The Duckling Awards 1 -5 take your child from confidence to swimming 5m

CHILDREN'S LESSONS

Lessons take place in small groups with at least two fully qualified staff which enables each child to get the attention they need. We work to the ASA's National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS). There are 7 stages, although we concentrate on the first 5 stages only. Our lessons are divided up according to ability and age. We always aim to find the most suitable group for the child. Progress in our classes is rapid, so we never delay moving a child up to the next group if needs be.

ADULT LESSONS

We specialise in the absolutely terrified. Lessons are in very small groups with no spectators and very warm water. We understand the terror some people feel and will take you through that fear on to learning to swim.

AQUABUMP

Mums-to-be can exercise in warm water in comfortable surroundings taking the weight off their bodies. With no spectators and comfortable surroundings mums can relax and take time out.

ANNE BICKMORE

When her children were small, Anne was elected to serve on the local council in the early '80's and became a School Governor as a result. The school needed a lifeguard, so she decided to update her life saving qualification and then went on to qualify as a swimming teacher. In 1983 Anne found employment as a lifeguard with the local authority, continued teacher training and became a Tutor by 1988. She set up own business in 1989.Twenty years later Anne is still running the business as well as teaching in schools. Anne is qualifed to teach aquafit, disabilities, diving, synchro, water polo and adult & child water activiites. She also teaches life saving and keeps the staff's qualifications up to date. She also holds a First Aid certificate. In 1997 Anne gained her Exercise to Music certificate and in 1998 qualified in Sports Massage. In her spare time she runs the abcfund, is a trained Health Walk Leader and swims around 2000m most mornings. Bike riding skills are improving!

SALLY EVANS

A very experienced teacher who has a successful track record, particularly the beginners. Sally started with us in 1997 as an assistant teacher. We finally managed to persuade her to take a full teacher's certificate in 2005 which she passed with flying colours (we knew she would). Sally teaches swimming in schools, clubs and a local leisure centre. That is when she is not child minding or doing the books of her husband's business.

CHRIS HOGBEN

Came to us in 2005 as a fully qualified swimming teacher and coach. He teaches for a club and a local leisure centre in his spare time as well as looking after his son. He works full time as a teaching assistant at a secondary school.

JASMINE HARWOOD

We welcome Jasmine to our team. Jasmine has just taken her ASA Level 2 and is awaiting her results. She is in her second year at college studying BTEC in sport. She hopes to go on to train as a PE teacher. She holds the National Pool Lifeguard certificate and works casually as a lifeguard as well as teaching swimming.
